Softball Game Preview: Hillcrest Academy Ravens vs. Wapello Indians

Hillcrest Academy is 0-10 against Wapello since June of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Ravens will head out on the road to face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Wapello will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Hillcrest Academy extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Ravens came out on top in a nail-biter against Pekin, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ravens have posted since June 15, 2024.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wapello and Columbus meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Indians never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory.

Wapello has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hillcrest Academy, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Hillcrest Academy might still be hurting after the 10-3 loss they got from Wapello when the teams last played back in May. Can the Ravens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
