Football Recap: Wamego Skates Past Winfield with Ease

Wamego had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 50-14 victory over the Winfield Vikings. That looming 50-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Red Raiders yet this season.

Winfield's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elijah Bergesen, who rushed for 99 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries, and Eli Tagg, who picked up nine receiving yards and one TD. Bergesen got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 75 yards.

The win was the fifth in a row for Wamego, bringing their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.4 points over those games. As for Winfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
