Football Recap: Bowie's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Bowie dropped to 1-2 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They lost 47-26 to the Coppell Cowboys. The Volunteers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-7.

Several Volunteers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Bibbs, who threw for 314 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 56 yards. A healthy portion of Bibbs' aerial production (82 yards to be exact) went to Keidric Osunde-Brown, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

As for Coppell, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Bowie is ranked 155th).

Carter Zingelmann went supernova, rushing for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 80 yards and one TD. His longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Dylan McAfee was another key player, rushing for 128 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bowie will venture away from home to take on Grand Prairie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Volunteers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Coppell, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hebron at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. This will also be the Cowboys' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
