Football Recap: Union Local Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Union Local can now relate to. They were beaten by the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes 35-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Buckeyes are ranked 89th).

Nelsonville-York had a senior duo take command as Austin Gautier gained 195 total yards and a touchdown and Dakota Cunningham rushed for 66 yards and three TDs. Gautier's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 100 rushing yards.

Union Local's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for Nelsonville-York, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Union Local does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nelsonville-York, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-7 win against Columbus Academy on the 14th.
