Lewis Central and Kuemper are an even 5-5 against one another since July of 2019, but likely not for long. The Titans will head out on the road to challenge the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lewis Central has three straight wins, Kuemper has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lewis Central's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Red Oak 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Cami Damgaard was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Damgaard was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Lewis Central let Aubree Davis and Camryn King run wild. Davis got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while King went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Paige Schaben also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Lewis Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. The last time their OBP was this high was in their last ten contests.
Meanwhile, Kuemper came up short against Atlantic on Wednesday, falling 13-2.
Lewis Central's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Kuemper, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Lewis Central took their victory against Kuemper in their previous meeting back in May by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
