Softball Recap: Fullington Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Fullington Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Westwood Wildcats on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Brooklin Cromer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carli Gibson, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aubrie Pope, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Fullington Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Westwood, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, Fullington Academy will square off against Crisp Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Westwood, they will be playing at home against Southland Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
