Not much got past Wyatt Burkett, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Brookville off the board. Burkett also tossed a walk, which is notable because Valley View is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 11-12 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hunter Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Austin Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Logan beat Northwestern 4-0 on Thursday.
The result came thanks to Jacob Hawley's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Benjamin Logan's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Allen, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Another was Carter Fay, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Valley View now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Benjamin Logan, their win bumped their record up to 16-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Valley View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Benjamin Logan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
