Softball Recap: Bellevue East Chieftains vs. Liberty North Eagles
Bellevue East fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Liberty North on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Chieftains have lost by just one run.
Alisha Mcmurtry was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
Mcmurtry wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Friedrich, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.
Bellevue East now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Liberty North, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
