Preview: Pottsgrove Falcons vs. Upper Perkiomen Indians
Pottsgrove is 8-2 against Upper Perkiomen since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Pottsgrove Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Upper Perkiomen Indians at 6:00 p.m. Pottsgrove is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Pottsgrove's strategy against Pottstown on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Pottsgrove blew Pottstown out of the water with a 49-21 final score. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Pottsgrove has posted against Pottstown since February 19, 2021.
It was another big night for Jessica Carroll, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Mikayla Eckman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Upper Perkiomen, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-36 loss to Norristown on Thursday. Upper Perkiomen was down 36-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Upper Perkiomen got a solid performance out of Erin States, who scored 19 points. That was a full 52.8% of Upper Perkiomen's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Pottsgrove's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Upper Perkiomen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Pottsgrove beat Upper Perkiomen 35-22 when the teams last played on January 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pottsgrove since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
