Softball Recap: Fairland's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Fairland came into Thursday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Chelsea Dragons on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Owls have posted since August 16th.

McKenna Hicks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addilyn Lollar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Katelyn Flud was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Fairland now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Chelsea, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Fairland will take on rival Nowata at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Chelsea is set to face off against their familiar foe Caney Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
