Basketball Recap: Sacramento Adventist Falls Short of Faith Christian in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Sacramento Adventist couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost to the Faith Christian Lions on the road by a 52-33 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Capitals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while the Lions are ranked 168th).

When it comes to explaining why Sacramento Adventist lost, don't look at Victoria Fowler. Despite the final result, she posted ten points and five rebounds. That's the most points Fowler has posted since back in December of 2024. Gwen Rosich was another key player, putting up six points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Sacramento Adventist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Christian only ten offensive boards.

Lauren Harris was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds for Faith Christian. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Harris has scored at least a third of Faith Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Presley Berry, who had 17 points and five boards.

Sacramento Adventist moved to 21-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. As for Faith Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 21 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacramento Adventist will square off against Cornerstone Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cornerstone Christian will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Sacramento Adventist surely won't give up without a fight. As for Faith Christian, they will challenge Round Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
