Recap: Cambria Heights Highlanders vs. Portage Mustangs

The Cambria Heights Highlanders lost against the Portage Mustangs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Cambria Heights took a 48-31 bruising from Portage. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cambria Heights has scored all season.
Cambria Heights' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sienna Kirsch, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The match was Kirsch's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Gracey Vinglish was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Jenna Burkett continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Portage, scoring 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Chobany, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Cambria Heights now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Portage, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cambria Heights will be home for the holidays to greet Northern Cambria at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Northern Cambria comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Portage will be home for the holidays to greet Conemaugh Township at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Conemaugh Township will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 477th, while Portage is ranked 12th).
