Basketball Recap: Otto-Eldred Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Otto-Eldred and Williamsburg squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Otto-Eldred had to settle for second. They fell 47-36 to the Williamsburg Blue Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Terrors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Blue Pirates are ranked 56th).

Despite the defeat, Otto-Eldred saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ayla Van Scoter posted six points and six boards.

Williamsburg was led to victory by Levada Gorsuch and Anastasia Ranalli. Gorsuch shot 70% from the field on her way to 17 points and eight rebounds, while Ranalli dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Ranalli a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Leeanna Royer, who had ten points and seven boards.

Otto-Eldred's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points over those games. As for Williamsburg, they pushed their record up to 22-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Otto-Eldred does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Williamsburg, they will take on Bishop Carroll on Saturday. Williamsburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season.
