Basketball Recap: Gregori Sets Scoring Season-High Against Enochs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gregori). They blew past the Enochs Eagles 65-37 on Tuesday. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Eagles are ranked 678th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gregori's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Veronica Whitten led the charge by dropping a triple-double with 15 points, 13 boards, and ten steals. What's more, Whitten also racked up four blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Alanah Lopez was another key player, putting up 18 points and four steals.

Gregori smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive games.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alivia Pierce, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Pierce is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenadee Paxton, who posted five points.

Gregori has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. As for Enochs, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-13.

Gregori has already played their next contest (against Pitman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Enochs also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Downey.
