Basketball Recap: Lassen Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Del Norte, Lassen was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Central Valley Falcons out 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Grizzlies have posted since December 9, 2023.

Lassen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucy Olson led the charge by going 6 of 11 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds. Those 12 points gave Olson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Somerville, who almost dropped a double-double on nine boards and ten steals.

Lassen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Lassen's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for Central Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Lassen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-51 defeat against Redding Christian on the 21st. As for Central Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-39 loss against Willows on the 21st.
