Soccer Recap: Escalon Takes a Loss

Escalon lost against Hilmar back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Escalon Cougars came up short against the Hilmar Yellowjackets, falling 8-1. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 649th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 223rd).

Escalon now has a losing record at 2-3-3. As for Hilmar, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3-2.

Escalon will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Rio Linda at 4:00 p.m. on December 30th. Hilmar also won't see the pitch for a while: their next contest is against Sonora at 3:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
