Recap: Charleroi Cougars vs. Belle Vernon Leopards
After a string of three wins, the Charleroi Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Belle Vernon. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Charleroi in their matchups with Belle Vernon: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Charleroi still got an impressive performance from Bella Carroto, who scored 20 points. Carroto scored a full 46.5% of Charleroi's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ella Sypolt was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Charleroi's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Belle Vernon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charleroi will be home for the holidays to greet Jefferson-Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Belle Vernon will be home for the holidays to greet Trinity at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
