Softball Recap: Ord Chanticleers vs. Pierce Bluejays
Ord had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it 17. They came up short against the Pierce Bluejays, falling 12-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 two weeks ago.
Allison Wheeler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
As for Pierce, they moved to 5-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The result was nothing new for the Bluejays, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Pierce's side, the team relied heavily on Jessa Kraft, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Kraft has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Brunckhorst, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Coincidentally, Ord and Pierce will both be playing O'Neill the next time they take the field. The Chanticleers will head out to face the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bluejays will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
