Recap: Salesian College Preparatory Pride vs. Pinole Valley Spartans
The Salesian College Preparatory Pride have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They secured a 47-42 W over Pinole Valley on Thursday. That's two games straight that Salesian College Preparatory has won by exactly five points.
It was another big night for Madalyn Kanazawa, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamia Sawyer, who scored eight points.
Salesian College Preparatory pushed their record up to 4-7 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Pinole Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Salesian College Preparatory will be playing in front of their home fans against Maria Carrillo at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Maria Carrillo will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. Pinole Valley will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against San Ramon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. San Ramon Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pinole Valley in California (San Ramon Valley is ranked fifth, while Pinole Valley is ranked 369th).
