Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Miller County

Miller County entered their tilt with Pataula Charter Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 10-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-0 last Wednesday.

Andrew Keown and Dru Johnson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Keown tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Johnson tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Keown went 1-for-3 with four RBI, while Johnson scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave Keown a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Thomas Cook, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Thornton, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Miller County's record now sits at 16-5. As for Pataula Charter Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Miller County is set to challenge their familiar foe Seminole County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 3.3, the Indians 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pataula Charter Academy will take on rival Randolph-Clay at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
