Baseball Recap: Miller County Makes It Three in a Row at Home

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Miller County and Randolph-Clay, and Miller County kept the tradition alive. The Pirates never let the Red Devils get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brayden Horn made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Miller County got a massive performance out of Cooper Coronado, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Coronado a new career-high in RBI (two). Thomas Cook was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Miller County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Miller County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Randolph-Clay, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miller County will venture away from home to face off against Bainbridge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Randolph-Clay, they will head out to take on Terrell County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
