Basketball Recap: Catalina Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leigh over Piedmont Hills

Leigh was the 53-44 winner over Piedmont Hills when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Leigh Longhorns took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Piedmont Hills Pirates on Tuesday. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Catalina Williams, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Williams a new career-high. Abigail White was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Leigh's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Piedmont Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Leigh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-39 win against Ann Sobrato on the 23rd. Piedmont Hills has also already played their next contest, a 56-39 defeat against Santa Teresa on the 23rd.
