Football Recap: Smyer Takes a Loss

Smyer fell victim to Sundown and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Roughnecks 49-0. If the Bobcats were looking for revenge after losing 42-6 to the Roughnecks when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Skyler Pond threw for 104 yards on ten of 21 attempts. Noah Gonzales was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards. On the ground, Xyler Rumsey rushed for 28 yards.

Smyer is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Sundown, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Smyer is set to challenge their familiar foe Ropes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Sundown will face off against rival Plains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
