Basketball Recap: Windber Takes a Loss

If Windber was feeling good fresh off their 59-17 takedown of Meyersdale last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Windber Ramblers fell 51-42 to the Allegany Campers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Ramblers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 332nd in Pennsylvania, while the Campers are ranked 48th in Maryland).

When it comes to explaining why Windber lost, don't look at Maggie Manippo. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 13 on her way to 12 points and four steals. That's the most points Manippo has posted since back in February of 2024. Autumn Walz was another key player, putting up seven points.

Windber now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Allegany, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Windber will challenge Rockwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Allegany, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-24 win against Mountain Ridge on the 20th.
