Ingleside hasn't had much luck against Sinton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Ingleside has given up an average of 39.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Ingleside and Rockport-Fulton had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mustangs were dealt a 62-21 defeat at the hands of the Pirates on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1047th, while the Pirates are ranked 433rd).
Despite the loss, Ingleside had strong showings from Julius Sierra, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one score, and Damian Gallegos, who rushed for 50 yards and one TD. Jayden Techur got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Sinton scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They and Cuero were almost perfectly matched up, but the Pirates suffered a 56-55 defeat. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on October 3rd (32), the Pirates still had to take the loss.
Ingleside will have to contain Mykha Green as he made an impact in Sinton's last game. He rushed for 269 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Green is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 215 every time he's taken the field this season. Quincy Bess was another key player, throwing for 141 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes.
Even if they lost, Sinton's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Jaycee Castro was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Sinton got some further help from Jonathan Rivas: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Having lost for the first time this season, Sinton fell to 6-1. As for Ingleside, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Ingleside was dealt a bruising 52-21 defeat at the hands of Sinton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 29-7.
