Basketball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Springfield was feeling good fresh off their 53-15 takedown of South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Longhorns took a blow against the Wiley Panthers on Tuesday, falling 64-32. The Longhorns were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.

Despite the loss, Springfield saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kagen Schroder went 6-for-14 to rack up 15 points. Schroder has also also been stellar as far as three-point shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 40% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Cohoon, who posted three points.

Grant Mauch was a one-man wrecking crew For Wiley. as he dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Mauch has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bentyn Tixier, who shot 71% from the field en route to 10 points and seven boards.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Wiley, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Springfield will take on Walsh in a tournament on the 18th. As for Wiley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 37-35 victory against Cheraw on the 13th.
