The Mountainside Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Trivium Prep Crimson Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mountainside saw some tournament action on Friday. They blew past Highland Prep West 36-14. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountainside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Fry, who rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Fry a new career-high. Mountainside also got a significant boost from Daniel Gregg, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mountainside was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.
Another reason for the win was Mountainside's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Mason Lingenfelter and Malachai Morales, who racked up five sacks between them. Fry got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Trivium Prep got the win against Antelope on Friday by a conclusive 38-13. The Crimson Knights haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Trivium Prep found their leader in freshman Alexander Fonseca, who rushed for 62 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries.
Trivium Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Thomas Wodrich, Billy Phillips, Noah Messieha, and Benjamin Wolfley picked up one apiece. Wolfley also rushed for 235 rushing yards, which is notable because Trivium Prep is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. Wolfley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Mountainside's record now sits at 6-4. As for Trivium Prep, their record is now 7-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Mountainside has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 212.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Trivium Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 249.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Mountainside came up short against Trivium Prep in their previous meeting on October 10th, falling 20-14. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
