Basketball Game Preview: Vallejo Redhawks vs. San Marin Mustangs

The Vallejo Redhawks will take on the San Marin Mustangs in a holiday battle at at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Vallejo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 76-3 win over De Anza. With the Redhawks ahead 37-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Vallejo relied on the efforts of Zurrie Washington, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals, and Veekie Head, who went 10 of 13 on her way to 20 points and six rebounds. Those ten rebounds gave Washington a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angeline Harris, who posted nine points and four steals.

Meanwhile, San Marin entered their tilt with Rodriguez on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victor by a 46-24 margin over the Mustangs. San Marin has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 22 points or more this season.

Vallejo's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for San Marin, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Vallejo lost to San Marin at home by a decisive 54-40 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Vallejo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
