Basketball Game Preview: Rancho Solano Prep Mustangs vs. Red Rock Scorpions

Rancho Solano Prep is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They are taking a road trip to face off against the Red Rock Scorpions at 5:30 p.m. Rancho Solano Prep will be strutting in after a victory while Red Rock will be coming in after a defeat.

Rancho Solano Prep took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past ALA - Mesa North 68-6. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their 18-point performance the game before.

Rancho Solano Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bella Arqueros led the charge by shooting 50% from the field on her way to 15 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. Those eight steals gave Arqueros a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nenah Brown, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 16 points and six rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Rancho Solano Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Red Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by North Valley Christian Academy and fell 67-4.

Red Rock's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Rancho Solano Prep, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Rancho Solano Prep against Red Rock in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-9 victory. In that contest, the Mustangs amassed a halftime lead of 28-4, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
