Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Hawks vs. Minarets Mustangs

Liberty and Minarets are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Liberty Hawks will head out to take on the Minarets Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty hasn't scored more than 24 points for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Last Tuesday, Liberty lost to Chowchilla at home by a 39-24 margin. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tribe 10-6 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Minarets was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against Caruthers, falling 101-10. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1299th, while the Blue Raiders are ranked 55th).

Savannah Garabedian was Minarets' leading scorer, having posted five points.

Minarets' defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Everything went Liberty's way against Minarets in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Liberty made off with a 45-19 victory. Does Liberty have another victory up their sleeve, or will Minarets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
