Softball Recap: Mayer Has No Trouble Against Highland Prep West

The Mayer Wildcats made easy work of the Highland Prep West HORNETS on Monday and carried off a 21-6 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by nine runs or more this season.

Gracie Hood was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Pina, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Mayer has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Highland Prep West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mayer beat the HORNETS by a score of 24-11 later that day.
