Volleyball Recap: Daphne Falls Short Against Ranked Mcgill-Toolen

Daphne faced McGill-Toolen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Trojans fell 2-0 to the Yellowjackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Ella Lomax paced Daphne's offense, picking up 13 kills. Lomax got some help from Anna Grace Chason and her six assists. Grace Thigpen controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading McGill-Toolen to victory were Bella Smith and Payton Mcclarren. Smith had 12 digs, while Mcclarren had five digs and two aces. That's the most digs Smith has posted over her last 17 contests.

Daphne's defeat dropped their record down to 32-19. As for McGill-Toolen, the victory (which was their 33rd in a row) raised their record to 39-2.

Daphne has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Davidson on the 14th. As for McGill-Toolen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Spanish Fort on the 11th.
