Baseball Game Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Argo Argonauts

The Plainfield South Cougars will square off against the Argo Argonauts at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Plainfield South will be strutting in after a win while Argo will be coming in after a loss.

Plainfield South is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since May 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Streator 7-6.

Meanwhile, Argo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-2 to Riverside-Brookfield.

Argo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Valente Melero, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another was Xavier Brant, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Argo's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Plainfield South, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
