Basketball Recap: Mohawk Area Takes a Loss

The Mohawk Area Warriors were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 36-30 to the Oak Glen Golden Bears. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Golden Bears 11-7 in the first quarter.

Oak Glen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haylee Stewart, who posted eight points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Stewart a new career-high. Emma Everett was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Mohawk Area dropped their record down to 0-2-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Mohawk Area will venture away from home to take on Shenango at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oak Glen, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Catholic Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Golden Bears' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
