East Nicolaus hadn't done well against Pierce recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the East Nicolaus Spartans made off with a 46-45 victory over the Pierce Bears. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Bears back in January, they had to take a 48-24 defeat.

East Nicolaus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rylee Gillespie, who posted 12 points in addition to five assists and five steals. That's the most steals Gillespie has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Hall, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 13 points and eight boards.

The win (which was East Nicolaus' fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points over those games. As for Pierce, their loss dropped their record down to 17-9.

Looking ahead, East Nicolaus will host Quincy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Quincy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something East Nicolaus surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pierce, they have already played their next contest, a 58-26 win against Live Oak on the 18th.
