Basketball Recap: Stagg Delta Kings vs. Edison Vikings
The Stagg Delta Kings had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Edison as Stagg made off with a 50-30 victory. Stagg has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.
Jameelah Pharms continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten steals. She hasn't dropped below 16 points for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Ogle, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Edison saw an underclassman step up: Ajaila Jordan scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Taviana Hughes, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Stagg's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Edison, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stagg and the Cougars will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Weston Ranch will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1034th, while the Delta Kings are ranked 512th). As for Edison, they and the Eagles will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in McNair's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups.
