Basketball Game Preview: Center Cougars vs. Wheatland Pirates

The Center Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Wheatland Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Center is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 66 points on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Lincoln on Friday. They came up short against the Fighting Zebras, falling 46-24. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1027th, while the Fighting Zebras are ranked 340th).

Meanwhile, Wheatland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by Marysville 81-29. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-12.

Center has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Wheatland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.

Center took their victory against Wheatland in their previous meeting on January 8th by a conclusive 47-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Center since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
