Football Recap: Tohatchi Takes a Loss

If Tohatchi was riding high fresh off their 26-6 takedown of Newcomb last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars took a 34-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gallup Bengals on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Alex Gonzalez was nothing short of spectacular for Gallup: he rushed for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Gonzalez's longest rush was for an impressive 67 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Joshua Keeto got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Tohatchi's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Gallup, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Tohatchi has already played their next matchup, a 54-6 win against Crownpoint on the 26th. As for Gallup, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 31-6 loss against Thoreau on the 26th.
