Softball Game Preview: Grand Junction Tigers vs. Grand Junction Central Warriors

For the second straight game, Grand Junction will face off against Grand Junction Central. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Junction will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Grand Junction will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Grand Junction Central, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Warriors on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since August 27th.

Kloe Donahue made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashley Gonzalez, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jacquelyn Boyd, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Grand Junction was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in 12 consecutive matchups.
