Basketball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns, falling 67-22. While losing is never fun, the Warhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 804th, while the Longhorns are ranked 181st).

Leading Rancho Buena Vista to victory were Camille Dake and Kylie Salzler. Dake went 5 of 11 en route to 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Salzler posted 12 points in addition to five boards and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Salzler a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Tiaira Richardson, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Rancho Buena Vista, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Madison will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Clairemont at 5:00 p.m. Madison is facing Clairemont at the right time seeing as Clairemont is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Rancho Buena Vista has already played their next contest, a 56-51 win against La Costa Canyon on the 15th.
