Softball Recap: Burke County Comes Up Short

Burke County couldn't beat Thomson on Wednesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the first inning. The Bears fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 12-11. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 6-0 in the first period.

Burke County got a massive performance out of Serenity Howard, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Madeleigh James was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

Burke County's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 10-10. As for Thomson, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

While Burke County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
