Softball Recap: Mangum Gets the Win

Mangum lost to Shattuck back in August of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Indians.

The team relied heavily on Aubrey Lowe, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Mangum was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mangum's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Shattuck, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Mangum will challenge Del City at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Shattuck, they will face off against Merritt at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Indians have won five straight at home dating back to last season, while the Oilers won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
