Softball Recap: Gross Catholic Drops Highest Score of Season Against South Sioux City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gross Catholic). They put the hurt on the South Sioux City Cardinals with a sharp 13-0 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

The team relied heavily on Julianna Braun, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Hofmann, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Gross Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Sioux City only posted a batting average of .111.

Gross Catholic's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for South Sioux City, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gross Catholic will host Nebraska City at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Sioux City, they will welcome Ponca at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
