Football Recap: Eagle Pass Eagles vs. Del Rio Rams
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against United South, Eagle Pass was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 23-14 victory over the Del Rio Rams. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.
Eagle Pass' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavier Barrera, who threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns. Sebastian Velasquez was another key pass catcher, picking up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Del Rio still got an impressive performance from Zane Hughes, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Hughes got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 70 yards.
The victory snapped Eagle Pass' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record. As for Del Rio, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7.
