Basketball Recap: Mt. Whitney Takes a Loss

Mt. Whitney entered their match against Monache on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mt. Whitney Pioneers had to suffer through a 66-22 loss at the hands of the Monache Marauders. The game marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

It was another big night for Milly Rojas, who went 10 of 18 on her way to 25 points and six steals for Monache. Rojas' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kyah Bartlett was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Mt. Whitney and nudges their season record down to 9-6. As for Monache, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6.

Mt. Whitney has already played their next match (against Porterville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Monache will take on Golden West at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Monache is facing Golden West at the right time seeing as Golden West is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
