Basketball Game Preview: Galileo Lions vs. Mission Bears

Galileo is 3-0 against Mission since January of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Galileo Lions will face off against the Mission Bears at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

It was a proper cat-fight when Galileo took on Lowell on Monday. Galileo came up short against Lowell, falling 60-35. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 638th, while the Cardinals are ranked 300th).

Despite their loss, Galileo saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Shuhan Yu, who posted 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliette Fahey, who put up nine points.

Mission played against Lincoln and lost via forfeit.

Mission is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 9.6 points. As for Galileo, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.
