Football Game Preview: Splendora Wildcats vs. Montgomery Bears + How To Watch

The Splendora Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Montgomery Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Splendora has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight losses, while Montgomery will come in with five straight wins.

Splendora is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Port Neches-Groves on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wildcats were outmatched by the Indians and fell 48-6. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 774th, while the Indians are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, Montgomery hadn't done well against Huntsville recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bears took their matchup with ease, bagging a 54-20 victory over the Hornets. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 34 points or more this season.

Splendora's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Montgomery, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Splendora was dealt a bruising 62-28 loss at the hands of Montgomery when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Damion Taylor (who rushed for 131 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries, and also picked up 51 receiving yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
