Basketball Game Preview: Burney Raiders vs. Redding Christian Lions

Burney hasn't had much luck against Redding Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Burney Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Redding Christian Lions at 5:00 p.m. Burney is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Last Wednesday, Burney really took it to Surprise Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-26 victory. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Burney's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaliyah Perez, who posted 15 points and eight steals. Perez's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Alexis Witzel was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 boards.

Meanwhile, Redding Christian didn't have too much trouble with CORE Butte on Friday as they won 56-42. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 507th, while the Lynx are ranked 1184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Redding Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. As for Burney, their record is now 17-6.

Burney came up short against Redding Christian in their previous meeting back in January, falling 44-32. Can Burney avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
