Basketball Recap: Waterford Wildcats vs. Gustine Reds
The Waterford Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took down Gustine 50-32. Waterford pushed the score to 44-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Reds cut but never quite recovered from.
Waterford was led to victory by Sadie Boone and Thalia Reyes. Boone dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Reyes dropped a triple-double on 11 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reyes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Ward, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Gustine still got an impressive performance from Alexis Gallichio, who scored 14 points. Caitlyn Gallichio was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Waterford's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-13. As for Gustine, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waterford will take on the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gustine, they will be playing at home against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Delhi comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last 14 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
