Football Recap: Taos Tigers vs. Highland Hornets

Taos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 26-20 heartbreaker at the hands of the Highland Hornets. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Highland found their leader in sophomore William Anchondo, who rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Anchondo's longest rush was for an incredible 92 yards.

Taos' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Highland, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Taos and Highland will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Taos will face off against rival Aztec at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Highland is set to challenge their familiar foe Los Alamos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
